Health of the Nation Challenge 2022

The results are in!

The Irish Life Health of the Nation research gives a comprehensive picture of national health physically, socially and mentally. Our research found that since 2020 our average National MyLife Health Score has decreased, mainly due to reduced physical activity.

MyLife challenges help our users to improve their physical activity levels. That’s why MyLife’s Health of the Nation Challenge was launched in August 2022 to give our users the opportunity to get active and improve their health score with a MyLife activity challenge.

We're delighted with the results:

  • 3,400 participants joined us to track 474 million steps in just 2 weeks

  • On average each participant tracked more than 130,000 steps

  • We saw an average participant health score improvement from 666 to 674

  • 2,400 participants hit our 100,000 step target & there was 1 lucky winner of our Finn Lough prize draw

Why should I get involved in a MyLife challenge?

Preventative Health is an important part of our health & wellbeing. Research shows that leading a more active lifestyle can significantly reduce your risk of chronic diseases like heart disease and type 2 diabetes. The HSE Physical Activity Guidelines recommends at least 30 minutes a day of moderate intensity activity, five days a week (or 150 minutes a week). Regular physical activity is also medically proven to have immediate benefits to your overall wellbeing including:

  • Improved sleep quality
  • Reduced feelings of anxiety
  • Better weight management
  • Improved overall quality of life

Finally, we want to reward you for embracing a healthier lifestyle through MyLife. Any participant that reaches our challenge targets will be entered into our prize draws. You can run, walk, jog, whatever it takes to accumulate or exceed our steps target.
