An Introduction to Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT)
Wheel of Life

Grace Walsh, wellbeing consultant at Irish Life Wellbeing, provides an introduction to CBT and how it can be a helpful approach to managing anxiety and depressive thoughts.

Anxiety is becoming more prevalent, now affecting as many as 20% of the population, resulting in loss of quality and enjoyment in everyday life. Cognitive Behavioural Therapy – known as its abbreviation (CBT) - has been found to be very effective in the treatment of people suffering with general anxiety symptoms as well as anxiety disorders. Research suggests CBT can be as effective, or more effective than other psychological therapies and or psychiatric medication.

This session is in recognition of World Mental Health Day, which takes place on Monday 10th October.  Do bear in mind that CBT is just one approach to the treatment of anxiety or depression. If you are feeling low and suspect that you may be suffering from mental ill-health, please reach out and talk to someone -  a trusted family member, friend or mental health professional.

Grace Walsh is in conversation with Suzanne Shaw, Irish Life Wellbeing.
